Stanno prendendo forma nuovi rumours che testimoniano l’avanzata fase di sviluppo di Windows 7 ma anche la possibilità di ottenere degli upgrade gratuiti. No, Windows 7 non verrà offerto come upgrade gratuito a ogni utente Windows Vista, chi pensava a tale possibilità (plausibile) dovrà continuare ad attendere e sperare, le ipotesi sono che Windows 7 possa essere offerto come upgrade gratuito se compriamo un nuovo PC che ha Windows Vista dal 1° Luglio 2009. Non appena Windows 7 verrà messo in commercio, chi compra un nuovo PC dopo il 1° Luglio sarà elegibile per un upgrade gratuito al nuovo OS della Microsoft.
TechARP sembra aver ottenuto informazioni interne della Microsoft sul “Windows 7 Technical Guarantee program”, il sito dice che Microsoft abbia inviato ai propri partner delle Bozze su questo programma già il 10 Dicembre 2008. Quali sono i criteri per essere elegibili ?
* End users must purchase a new PC that is pre-installed with an eligible Windows Vista Operating System (OS), during the program eligibility window.* The PC must have a valid Certificate of Authenticity (COA) attached.
* The only Windows Vista® versions eligible for the program are :
1. Windows Vista® Home Premium
2. Windows Vista® Business
3. Windows Vista® Ultimate
* Microsoft Windows Vista® Home Basic, Windows Vista® Starter Edition, and Windows® XP (all editions) are not qualifying products under the program.* The Program does not support multiple upgrades for medium, large, or enterprise customers. Customers that want to upgrade multiple PCs should use the appropriate Microsoft Volume Licensing program. See www.microsoft.com/licensing for more details.
* The following are the only valid upgrade paths under the program :
1. Windows Vista® Home Premium -> Windows® 7 Home Premium
2. Windows Vista® Business -> Windows® 7 Professional
3. Windows Vista® Ultimate -> Windows® 7 Ultimate
I documenti a cui ha avuto accesso TechARP sono ancora una bozza, ci possono essere cambiamenti e modifiche sostanziali al programma qualora venga messo in pratica. Microsoft ha già commentato dicendo:
“We often explore options with our partners for how we offer products, but we have nothing to announce at this time.”
