Taipei Times informa che Internet Explorer 8 potrebbe venir rilasciato fra una settimana, si vocifera un uscita di Internet Explorer 8 in concomitanza con la “MIX09 Conference”, evento annuale che riunisce Web Designer e Web Developers. Taipei Times dice che Microsoft Corp ha comunicato che fornirà agli utenti un nuova browsing experience dal 20 Marzo,  la navigazione Internet sarà più semplice e veloce.

Microsoft Taiwan Corp ha svelato una versione localizzata di Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) durante una conferenza tenutasi ieri assieme FunP.com, UrMap, I’m TV, Pixnet, Ruten.com e 1111 Job Bank.

Nonostante Microsoft Taiwan tratta sul markershare domestico, le nuove speranze di Microsoft sono che Internet Explorer sia più di un semplice tool. Taipei Times rivela anche un restyling dell’home page di IE effettuato apposta per rivaleggiare con Yahoo-Kimo Inc che è il search engine più popolare dell’intera nazione.

“The entire premise of our IE8 is to create user stickiness, so that Internet users don’t need to wander around the Web in search of their favorite sites because Microsoft has already thought ahead and consolidated the sites for them” – Microsoft Taiwan general manager Davis Tsai.

L’unione Yahoo-Kimo è riuscita a “catalizzare” quasi tutto il share di Taiwan parlando di Search Engines, secondo è invece Google Taiwan  ma l’arrivo del nuovo Internet Explorer 8 potrebbe “guastare” questo duopolio nel lungo periodo. L’articolo di  Taipei Times conclude informando sulle novità di Internet Explorer 8, segnalando i Web Slices ma anche gli accelerators, caratteristiche che abbiamo già avuto modo di esaminare assieme nei mesi scorsi ..

“One of the many great features of IE8 is ‘accelerators,’ which give users instant access to local Web sites that [feature] maps, Web searches, translation, e-mail and blogging. Our local partnerships with these companies in essence creates a one-stop shop where users can access all this information on our site,” Juno Su (蘇倩慧), the company’s platform marketing manager, told reporters.

Another new function of the IE8 platform is “Web slices,” which allow personalization through subscriptions to specific content within a page to monitor auction items, sports scores, entertainment columns, weather reports and other information, Su said.

Other features include enhanced Web searching that includes images and Web site recommendations based on personal browsing history.
