Microsoft ha rivelato nuovi dettagli della nuova versione di Windows Live Messenger (presto è in arrivo la Beta), vogliono rendere l’applicativo ancor più semplice ma al tempo stesso ricco di opzioni per rimanere in contatto con i propri amici sapendo cosa stanno facendo nel web. La nuova versione di Windows Live Messenger supporta i siti sociali come Facebook, MySpace, e LinkedIn. Il POST di Microsoft lascia precludere che il supporto ai Social Network non sia la sola novità di Windows Live Messenger, l’impressione è che aumenti anche il supporto alle varie caratteristiche di BING come ad esempio la sezione video (forse vedremo delle novità anche sul fronte immagini e condivisione immagini (Windows Live SkyDrive ?)).

La nuova Beta di Windows Live Messenger verrà rilasciata quest’estate e segnerà l’arrivo anche di una versione online di Messenger. In maniera analoga a quanto offre Google con il proprio GTalk, a cominciare da quest’estate potremo finalmente disporre di una versione online di Windows Live Messenger.

Concludiamo con l’ultima novità di Windows Live Messenger, è Messenger Connect, una soluzione per certi versi simile a quanto già offre Facebook Connect ma limitata ai possessori di Windows Live Messenger.  Nuove API consentiranno di integrare una sorta di supporto nei siti web attraverso cui verrà facilitata la condivisione informazioni. Prima di pensare ad un “nuovo grande fratello” ricordiamo che Microsoft è stata già “punita” più volte dall’Unione Europea quindi l’annuncio di Messenger Connect è allegato da un’ampia descrizione che ci informa di come verrà salvaguardata la nostra privacy.

For consumers, this begins with letting you stay in touch from not only our Messenger experiences but also from the sites that our partners are building. Critical to this endeavor is that we do this in a manner that you own and control. So as we do this, we strongly believe that users own their data and should be able to share or access it from the websites and applications they want to. And we believe that the privacy of a customers’ data is a critical element of a secure web and the customer should be in control. So we’ve built Messenger Connect with security and privacy as foundational elements. Websites cannot access any of a user’s non-public information from Windows Live without prior consent from the customer. And, equally important, a user can remove the permissions they have granted to websites and applications at any time.

Insomma, è tempo di Web Applications e Windows Live Messenger approda finalmente online.
