Lo share di Internet Explorer 7 è ancora misero e, nonostante il numero di utilizzatori del nuovo Browser sia in salita, IE6 domina ancora il mercato (leggi “Un Anno con Internet Explorer 7“). Dopo neanche un’anno di Internet Explorer 7 “quelli di Redmond” non perdono tempo ed hanno già discusso del suo successore, in occasione della conferenza “Mix and Mash” sono stati stilati un pò di nomi

• IE VIII
• IE 1000 (think binary)
• IE Eight!
• iIE
• IE for Web 2.0 (Service Pack 2)
• IE Desktop Online Web Browser Live Professional Ultimate Edition for the Internet (the marketing team really pushed for this one
• Ie2.079 (we might still use this for the Math Major Edition)

ed il “prescelto” non si discosterà più di tanto dalla ormai consueta nomenclatura, si chiamerà INTERNET EXPLORER 8 ! Tanta gente è maggiormente interessata alla sostanza che ai nomi e qui rimarrà delusa, è un vero peccato che non si sia parlata di features, date di rilascio delle prossime versioni Beta ed eventuali compatibilità con Windows XP che è ancora in vendita (N.D.R).

Of course, some people care about other aspects of IE8 much more than they care about the name. As I’ve walked different people through the plan, I’ve gotten “Does it have feature X?” “When is the beta?” “When does it release” and even the more thoughtful “What are you trying to accomplish with this release?”
